Printing from Openoffice

If OpenOffice is not showing the printer you want to print to in the printing dialog box, the following can be done to enable the printer:

  • Run 'oopadmin'.
  • Click 'New Printer...'
  • Click 'Next'
  • Choose Generic Printer and then click 'Next'
  • Type 'lpr -P' and then the name of the printer, ie: 'lpr -P grad'
  • Name the printer and then click next
  • Click 'Close'
Now the printer will show in the OpenOffice printing menu.
