Microsoft Developers Network Academic Alliance

  Home > MSDNAA

Some Microsoft software is provided through Microsoft Developer Network Academic Alliance.

The MSDN Academic Alliance is an annual membership program for technical departments in the area of Computer Science, Engineering, and Information Systems. As a member, a department receives an MSDN AA subscription that includes Microsoft platform, servers, and developer tools software. This software may be installed on any number of departmental lab machines. In addition, the department's faculty and students may obtain a copy of the software to install on their personal computers.

All the software is available for free download. The free download requires you to burn your own copy of the software from the downloaded CD image. For some of the more popular packages the CD's can be purchased for a nominal fee and mailed to you.

For an overview of how the system works you can visit the E-academy ITLABS site and click on "Software" without logging in. It will give an overview of how the program works and E-academy's privacy statment.

For more details on MSDNAA and list of the software covered see the MSDNAA website.

The distribution of the software is managed using e-academy's automated ditribution system ELMS. To register you will have to provide an e-mail address to e-academy. E-academy uses the address as a username and will send passwords, general instructions and license keys for downloaded software to this address.

If you have any questions about e-academy you can visit the e-academy website. There is a specific link for MSDNAA on the home page.
